The old mining railway Orkonera runs as a magnificent bidegorri (bike path) down the slopes of the mountains of Triano between Atlantic vegetation and marked successive tunnels, with magnificent views over the valley of Somorrostro
Among the old slag heap of La Orkonera, next to Cadegal neighborhood (municipality of Ortuella) and the area of AP-8 (South Variant or " Supersur ") toll near the industrial park Ugarte-Ade Pol (municipality of Valle Trápaga / Trapagaran).
In the second phase it is expected that the walkable stretch of the old road between the area of AP-8 toll ( East end of the current Greenway ) and the neighborhood of Retuerto ( Barakaldo) to be recuperated.

Lenght: 3,7 km. Over 300 m of asphalt road, of steep slope, between the old slag heap of Ortuella and Orulla road - La Orkonera neighborhood, in the inmediate vicinity of Cadegal.
Level of accessibility: The old road mantains a slight decline until Retuerto. The West End tarmac Access, that links Ortuella-La Orkonera road with the start of the bidegorri, presents a steep slope.
Type of surface: Asphalt of two colors. The black one is for pedestrians and the red one for cyclists.
The greenway runs attached to the mountainside where pastures, hamlets and Atlantic vegetation alternate. Aforetime, the Montes de Triano were the subject of extensive mining work, until converted into lunar landscape. After the cessation of such activity nature has returned to greenwash slag healps, industrial archeology and craters of the old mines, now converted into placid lakes thanks to leaks from underground waters. Valley of Trápaga/Trapagaran.
Mining district of La Arboleda (Monumental Site) with recreational areas and sports facilities. Funicular of La Reineta (Site of Cultural Interest). In the principal core, the parish of the Transfiguración del Señor, the churches of San José Obrero and San Juan Bautista, the City Hall and the Olaso palace stand out.
Chapels of San Bernabé de Urioste and Santa María Magdalena de Nocedal and church of San Félix de Cantalicio.
Infrastructure: Greenway. 6 conditioned, decorated and illuminated tunnels.
Infrastructure vfacilities: Railings, bins, kilometric points, 4 seating areas with furniture (tables, benches, swings, fountain…) serving as viewpoints over the valley and parking by the area of toll of AP-8 (Estern end of the Greenway).
Access to the Greenway:
East end: parking area next to the toll of South Metropolitan Variant. The access to parking is reachable thanks to the asphalt track that goes from km 11 of the BI-3747, next to a pillar and under the imposing concrete structure that supports the AP-8, near the roundabout on the N-634, almost opposite the northern entrance to the Ugarte-Ade industrial park.
West end: From the Ortuella-neighborhood of Orkonera, near the Cadegal neighborhood, drops a steeped sloped paved track until the start of the Greenway (about 300 m).
