“El Trenillo” was a train that once ran on a line that was built in the early twentieth century, linking Villacañas with Quintanar de la Orden. This train contributed to the economic development of the region, serving the region’s wine-making industry that still thrives today.

Near to this greenway lies Laguna Larga, a lake forming part of the “Mancha Húmeda” Special Protection Area (SPA) for birds. This SPA has been a UNESCO designated Biosphere Reserve since 1981.
